autumn king are a must - they grow easily and to a good size and are very tasty with nice crunch and texture.

mine had to rough it this year in a rough old stoney bed - but they did very well under the cicumstances.

next year they go into a riddled bed - they are gonna love it in there

You get this warm, comfortable feeling inside when someone actually agrees with you.

As a reminder these were a couple of my Autumn King..

Won't harm, the sets won't be growing much yet anyway.

They like full sun but will tolerate light shade.  Yes, to the onions question.

My first thought was: we still on this b******g carrot thing, are we?

My second thought was, that I do not really had any. Carrot, simple. Isn't it?
If you wanna fuss about them, it's either sun or semi-shade, both will do.
Unless you are showing , of course in which case, you are going to have to make your own arrangements, thank you.

Oooooo now for showing for eating ......... I grew some container ones this year in various pots/troughs in the garden and they were yummy ...... still have pots of them hiding in the greenhouse that i planted late and they are doing nicely...... my main veg plot gets a lot of sun in the summer time and i had in my mind that carrots like it cooler

No. they don't, as WG said. Best carrots(apart from manufacturing for show),a sandy soil dune, on a bit of a slope, otherwise most things will do.

ok raise the level of the soil by a foot in the area you can allow .i make a raised bed by raking up the soil into a level mound a yard wide and as long as possible ,remember to dig the soil all over the bed to get the maximum depth of loose soil .dont stand on it at all ,, get a long vareity of carrots i like FLAK . sow along the bed rake in water and leave for nature to work its magic . do not water unles a drought is in force .they only grow long searching for water and they will grow right to august sept through to be 8 to 12 inch long and 2 inch thick .... great for freezing and storing

I normally grow carrots in dustbins, but this year I am going to construct a raised bed.It will be high enough to defeat the carrot fly. 8)
I would like to give Flak a try but I cannot find them.So Munty can you tell me who supplys them. Thanks
