I usually use a different poultry forum, but as I use this forum for the allotment side, I thought I might keep it local!

I took on a couple more chickens recently, one cockerel and one hen, as the owner needed rid of them.
I was just wondering if anyone knew what breed they were?





(and yes, the cockerel is blind in one eye)

Well the cockerals colouring is like my amber star hen, amber stars are supposed to have flecks of colouring throughout but mine just has an off white/yellow colour,  he's a beauty and already looks at home! of course the hen is lovely too!!

I agree with sneezer, definitely an Amber Star the flecks of colour through the white feathering shows this.

The wife has just pointed out that the 'flecks' on the hen in that photo is actually mud... it was a bit muddy on that day, and we introduced them into a pen containing (among others) two other cockerels.

They are actually both the same colour... cream over white.

Someone said they might be Ixworth...

Definitely not Ixworth.  They have a pea comb.

The combs are far too small to be leghorns and they have red earlobes - which shoulc also be white in leghorns.

Having said that they could be a leghorn based commercial breed???  But I'm just guessing

Your hen looks a lot like mine. I concluded she is a silverlink but I'm not really certain.

I've got a lavender araucana x sussex light cockerel who looks a bit like this.
