[Little Miss Muffet]

i was at my parents house today and had a root around my dads seed box.
my dad is more of a veg grower than flower but with his gardening mag he used to get a load of free flower seeds.
most of the seeds are annul there is all sorts there there must be around twenty five packets of them but many of which re out of date.
some by only a few months but others by a few years.
i thought i might just put them in the ground the ones what i could so now and hope for the best .is it worth it?
does the best before really matter when it comes to flower seed?

You've nothing to loose by sowing them.    I planted some out of date flower seeds this year and they have done well.

I agree with Ann. It's possible the germination rate has dropped with age, but for free seeds, who cares? Gardening is an adventure and worth a few risks.

I planted some in the garden today because of the age and i am not expecting a lot out of them i used around three different types of seed packets on a small bit of garden.what ever i get from them will be a bonus.

I have a whole pile of out of date seed packets given to me by various people now that I have a garden. Some are years out of date but they have all gerninated, so it's worth trying.
