Enjoying family time
« on: March 25, 2020, 21:57 »
Just wanted to say that although these are difficult days at present, last couple of days have been wonderful with my children.
Yesterday my 16 year old son helped me dig out a rough area next to our pond in the garden and we built a bed for veg.
He also rebuilt a bed that was collapsing, moved some logs for seats and with him doing most of the hard work
He's very proud of himself and rightly so and I am too. We had a wonderful day.
Yesterday his 18 year old sister and I sowed lots of tomato seeds, cucumber, peppers and sugar snap peas.
She also helped me today at plot to plant onions and shallots.
More lovely days  :D
Help at the plot is very rare
Difficult times for everyone but this week I have appreciated and loved my times with my wonderful children  :D

Same here, my 6 year old son has helped me tidy up leaves and finish wedding the veg beds. He's been a great help spreading the old compost over the beds. And while looking for worms (for new pets!) he dug over the raised beds.
At the weekend when it was too cold to go outside we brought everything in and spent the afternoons filling pots and seed trays with compost and planting a mix of veg and flower seeds while watching films. Thankfully I have lots of seeds that I had bought in last year's sales!

Today my pre schooler helped me plant some narcissus and kept me company while weeding which was lovely. then they left me in peace to graft which was less nice but necessary. Found out that big moss pile, is now a nest, that bit of trellis, is a den, which has a moss roof. i don't know which of the pair of them came up with that plan but I have a hose. I can get them clean.
