Woodworm and a new shed
« on: May 06, 2012, 15:22 »
Hi everyone
I have spent the last two days taking down the old shed on my allotment that i have only had 6 weeks. The shed was absolutely riddles with woodworm and the ground now looks as if it is bark chipped. My question is if i put a new shed on the same site will it become infected with woodworm? Any help greatly appreciated  :)
Cheers
Jim

Is it treated? probably is, if it is it should be fine, if not treat it with chemicals to nuke them if they start to eat it for dinner

A woodworm is the larval stage of a wood boring beetle. As such I think it unlikely to be hanging around waiting to jump on your new shed. If you remove the old wood and burn it as best as possible then treat the new wood against further beetles flying in and causing infestation, you should be on the way to having a lovely new shed.
