Siting a polytunnel
« on: March 07, 2021, 17:51 »
I've just ordered a 6x8 polytunnel for my plot and need some advise as to which way to site it. I live on the Ribble estuary just outside Lytham St Annes and as you can imagine the winds coming off the estuary can be quite strong at times. Would you place the polytunnel so the longer sides of it take the brunt of the wind or would you site it so the doors take the wind. It will get some shelter from my shed and will get sun in the morning and from about 4pm until sunset. Which way would be better. Thank you

Personally I'd site longside into the wind. The dome shape of the tunnel will help guide the airflow over it.

Thanks for your reply. I had thought that but the other 3 polytunnels on our allotments have been placed so the door ends take the wind. I will site it longwise into the wind.
