My young Maran cockerel. I've also got a bantam Malay, an Aracauna, Silky-Sussex cross, Cream Legbar, Faverolles, Silver Sussex, Light Sussex, Bluebelle, and two others we haven't worked out yet. Hope the picture work.

I've looked through every single page of this thread and the photo's are fantastic. Thankyou to everyone for sharing. It really is good for someone like me that's just starting out to see lots of fun pics and read the stories that go with them.

If anyone has a photograph of the inside of their coops (nesting boxes and perches) it would be great to see.

Wow what breed of chicken is this?  I've always wanted some chickens I can keep on the steep part of our hill

Here are some photo's of my coop a Forsham Lenham 504 (I actually have 4 of them).

The photo was a couple of years back, I donated them to a local lady who had more silkies.

I have a few Marans, Light Sussex and some crosses, thats all I have left. I used to have approx. 1000 birds, 40+ breeds, some various ducks, geese, Guinea Fowl and more. Still got an incubator that holds 7,500 eggs total, it's the type you load weekly. 2,500 eggs is quite a few to clean, disinfect, tray up and set every week

serious chicken keeping then, I only have 40+ chickens all free ranging (11 of which live permanently outside in the trees) and 3 guinea fowl but am looking to expand this or maybe next year into getting a couple of piglets to bring on

Where abouts in South Lincs are you - I'm near Donington.

Wow you must have alot of space to have kept that many birds! I wish I had more room I would love to breed and sell pol hens as our local supplier has packed it in I see a gap in the Market round my way.

I did have nearly 10 acres but sadly since Armageddon I now only have 5, thats enough though, the down side is it's been so cold this year in a caravan:ohmy:
Its made me think I need a better place to lay my head, so I'm looking to build a "Green Oak" workshop/shed with a loft above, insulated and heated by a wood burner. Wood is plentyful in my hedge rows and I am to didicate 1/2acre to Ash trees which grow fast.

:D Unfortunately Lincolnshire isn't renowned for its hills, so can't be much help there. We trained him to play dead  ;)

The rest of the time there allowed to stand up straight - honest:
