Books on wine making for beginners

(1/1)

Stellabella546:
Hello folks

I have today subscribed to this forum and this is my very first post - hope I've done it correctly!

Can anyone recommend a good book on wine making for a beginner?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks  :)

New shoot:
I have the River Cottage Handbook Booze which is pretty good.  It covers beer, infused spirits and other stuff as well, but goes through the basic techniques, equipment and ingredients for wine pretty clearly.  There are a decent amount of recipes and probably enough information to let you move on to other variants with confidence  :)

My only other wine making book is a very old and now unobtainable one bought in a charity shop years ago, so is not much help as a recommendation  ::)

grinling:
C J J Berry First steps in winemaking. Covers everything with month by month of what wines to make.
try ebay or abe books

Growster...:
I still swear by the 'Boots Book of Home Wine and Beer making', which Mrs Growster bought for me as a present in 1973...

Just seen one or two second-hand online!

(It doesn't have the recipe we still use today - https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=77564.0)!
