Making saw dust..

By more luck than judgment I've also managed to frame out a chicken coop  :D  Before I run off and order the cladding though can someone just clear a few things up. .... go on you know you want to.

Roof and floor - whats best T&G floorboard or WPB ply (not sure what thickness) , I'd planned on sitting the coop on stilts and putting the feeder / drinker under it. Roughly how high do I need to make the stilts to do that?

I'll post some pic's when the coop has some clothes - it looks a bit naked as it is.

I prefer to use t&g because it seals better than ply, my hen house is on a slope but I would sit it about 18" off the ground.

Agree with Charlwood. Ours is about 18" or so.

I've used ply for the floor, but it depends what size as to how thick. If it's a big house, you could use 1/2" and strengthen with battens underneath.

For the roof (45deg pitched), I used v-groove t&g (it was slightly cheaper) but it leaked like a seive, so I wish I'd used shiplap.

Look forward to photos.

I would use ply as it would be slightly easier to slide the shovel over it when cleaning no grooves for muck to get stuck in

That is a slope and a half  no good living there if you are a pensioner.

Coop

I used waterproof plywood to build all my coop. I have sealed the wood with a washable varnish, and siliconed all the joints to make it harder for redmite to set up home. Mine is also raised up on stilts, to make the cleaning out easier. So far no problems.

Well I promised to post a picture when my coop had some clothes .. . so here it is.

Sorry about the size.

I've gone for wpb ply on the floor - the idea of stuff stuck in the T&G put me off anything else.

I need to sort the roof next - Im still not sure if I should use shiplap, ply or even pvc mini profile corrugated root sheet which looks like it would be the cheapest option. I dont have a huge slope on it so Im concerned that the shiplap would leak.

That is one great house

I'd go with the plastic option for the roof

Well done, it looks fantastic  :D
