Hi all and a few questions from a newbie.
« on: February 15, 2008, 16:14 »
Firstly hello.  Me and my other half have just moved from a flat to our first proper house with a good size garden, plenty of room for veg and chickens!  Cant wait to become more self sufficient.  We`ve just ordered ourselves a ready made coop and run, about 8ft long and 3 ft wide and are going to get 3 girls, firstly as pets and secondly for eggs.  Definately gotta get a silkie because they look so cute and am thinking of getting 2 bantams but am unsure as to what breed, which is where i need you guys and gals to help.  Bantams because we want small chooks and something friendly with character.  And also if anyone knows of anywhere around norwich or norfolk we can get them.  Oh and also, do i need to buy grit or because the run is on grass will they find it in the soil themselves? Many thanks in advance.

Hi Pud_Pod,
I have four Pekin bantams. they are the sweetest little things. They have lovely colouring, are friendly and lay an egg a day each from spring to late Autumn. They do go broody very easily though! :)
Proud to be a 100% qualified, caring, encouraging, one more push, reassuring Midwife!
