I was wondering if any one can help me i am having 6 1 day old chicks in 2 weeks time i intended to keep them in the house in a brooder for the first few weeks but i have been informed that because i have parrotts 2 african greys that they should not be kept in the house not even in a different room has any one any help on this as i really wanted them with us in the house as to make them in to lovely pets they will not be running around freely or anything like that i just hope i can do this in a safe way thankyou for any advice on this Nicky

Hello Nicky and welcome to the forum 
I don't know much about keeping chicks in the house with other birds but I just wanted to say good luck and I hope it works out for you.  I'm sure someone more experienced will be along to advise you.

Cant imagine what the problems going to be.chickens outside will have far more contact with bird diseases than chickens in a different room than parrots.

You may have been given this advice because of the monetary value of your African Grey parrots. I'm sure it's best not to risk the health of your very valuable parrots that can live a very long life as apposed to a chook that (although priceless to many) can be replaced by £30 tops. All birds carry various nasties and you really don't want cross infection. Of course it's good to get proper veterinary advice for both sets of birds. It might also be a good idea to talk to the bird specialist at a local wildlife park.
