Title: Sweet Potatoes
Post by: Frog on March 05, 2008, 20:28
Hello All!
Just wondering if anyone has ever grown sweet potatoes? If so, do you grow them from seed like normal spuds? I haven't seen them at the garden centres, but would love to give them a go. Any info would be gratefully received......!

You really have to chit them. You shall find a detailed link in the glossary about it. :)

I'm in the process of creating a web page about growing sweet potatos. They are not planted from small tubers as you would with spuds but from cuttings taken from growing plants. The easiest way to get the cuttings is to set a tuber in a dish of water and keep it warm, sometimes for a long time.

The article is unfinished but there is some photos of the slip production.
