It's like showing baby pics to other interested mums!
first reaction is for us all to go take pics of our own progeny so we can ooh and ahh and show off a little.

It's so much nicer showing you lot than a disinterested public at large! (Have camera phone at ready)

It's wonderful isn't it, and for me the thrill of looking for those first shoots, or digging to see how many spuds you've got, or finding you've got another half-dozen courgettes coming that seemingly weren't there yesterday (as your neighbours head for the hills!) never wears off!

I would be especially excited to grow an acorn squash like yours; we've had positive and negative geotropism discussed recently but lateral geotropism??!   :tongue2:
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

is it wise to sow sweetcorn in a seed tray with no dividers? as i had trouble last year spliting them up!

My sweetcorn is in peat pots that I'll cut before planting.  First year planting them in the U.K. and wish to err on the side of caution though I've heard lots of tales of success without the extreme care here.

I agree, there is something wonderful about seeing things appear from the compost. Every seed is a story.

Thank you for the photos.

Good thinking Irene!

Gambling on the weather is for more experienced gardeners and/or those with a "plan B"!  :)

JayG:

I would love to accept the compliment but while being very careful with my sweetcorn I also planted 8 cabbage patches under a poly cloche in the garden yesterday. They just got too big. Thank goodness our garden is well enough protected its almost its own micro-climate.....and I'm keeping my fingers crossed regarding the weather. lol.

As can be seen from the photos, blackcap1000 is alternating his squash seedling from one side to the other, thus negating the effect of geotropism.  :)

We did an experiment like that at school.
