Hi all, I know this may seem like a wacky question but how long does a hen live for? If they are part free range are well loved and happy birds? Obviously if they become ill their lives will become shorter, but what is the live span.

They CAN live for around 10 years plus! I know of a cochin called Barry White who is around 12 years old! I think a good innings is 6 years or so, maybe less for hybrids.

My blossom was 7 when she died........but she had so much more life left in her!!! ( accidental death)

Had to think about this one.  My friend bought a Rhode Iland Red hen at an auction, and I of course bought an Arctic Fox, the fox was stollen but the hen lives on, she is 12 this June.

Purebreeds are totally different.
