The cats are heavy enough on the bed and I rarely sleep well when they're on. No way do the dogs get up while we're in bed! My current lab x collie sneaks on when we're not there but she knows she's not supposed to be on the bed. She can sleep anywhere on the bedroom floor and I often wake up to a cold nose stretched across my pillow to lick me soon as I open my eyes. Yuk.

When I was a teenager we had a shetland sheepdog (mini Lassie dog).  He slept in the kitchen overnight but Dad had a tried and tested technique for getting me and my brother up in the morning before he left for work.

He'd open our bedroom doors and you had approximately 2 seconds to get your face under the duvet before a wet doggy tongue got enthusiastically stuck up your nostril

My spaniel snores worse than my dad and fidgets worse than someone who has ants down their pants so I definitely wouldn't let him on the bed.   The old fella now can't get up on the bed but when he was younger and snuck up he took over so he got banned as well.  Instead they take over all 3 sofas I've got downstairs -I'm allowed a little corner to sit on

Poor dog! The "paddling" is quite normal but the rest is extreme!

Tosca - agree with your original post - no dogs on beds. Actually as far as I'm concerned dogs have their own detached houses - I don't go into theirs and they don't come into mine!

Bizkit is the dog's name and is famous on youtube with a lot of videos.

My own dogs often have puppy dreams where they're chasing something and will whine and paddle away. Makes me wonder what must go on in dog heaven

we let the dog on the bed, but generally after while he gets down and sleeps on the floor i think he gets too hot but when hes on there he lies flat out on his back snoring very loudly

I don't have a dog, but I do share my bed with two cats.  Now given that my matress is 160cm wide, I always end up being pinned between two furry bodies with no room to move!

i wouldn't have it any other way though... my two living hot water bottles

My Border terrier who died last year was a great character and a wonderful dog but he didn't get any farther into the house than the kitchen and definitely not upstairs!

The farming side of my family don't have dogs in the house but I can't see the point of having one if they are never with you in the house. 

I get a jolt of pleasure every time I look around and see her.  Across my lap on the sofa is heavenly (and warm), the sound of paws on the treads on her way up the stairs and hearing the bedroom door open is wonderful but bed is the ultimate joy! :happy:

You are allowed space on the bed?!?! This was just the four - the other five hadn't come in for bedtime yet.....

In all seriousness this lot are not allowed in the bedroom at night. The little black and white one on the left (Cassipuss) is even know to "Cassipush" you off the bed. How one so small manages it is beyond me, but he will take over the entire bed regardless of who else is in it!
