Title: Snow & Ducks
Post by: min200 on January 14, 2013, 13:30
My ducks are so stupid!!

It took them 20 minutes to venture out into the snow as they havnt seen it before and were a bit worried about what it was exactly and now they have been perched on my low wall for two hours shivering in the snow getting wetter and wetter instead of going in!

Dozy plonkers

mine have been around several winters now and seem to actually enjoy the snow. They look a bit down if their pond gets frozen and we have to keep water available for drinking so that means carrying warm water up the garden sometimes

My turkeys are just playing about in the snow which I think they prefer to the mud.  The snow is about 2" deep but they don't seem bothered.

The hens like eating the snow but they didn't like it when it was snowing heavily so have retreated to the walk in run.   ::)

Mine don't like the snow either.

The last time we had heavy snow they didn't go out for 2 days except for 5 mins to eat and drink and when they did they didn't like to put their feet down so they lay on their tummies and sort of pushed themselves along with their feet before tucking them straight back into their down! :D

Glad we're not the only ones whose ducks don't like the snow! Ours were so funny when they first saw that everything was white - they didn't want to come out to begin with but a bit of food seemed to sort that out for them! :D
