Mum and Chick
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:56 »
I just wanted to tell you that one out of a duff batch of ebay eggs hatched under my silkie last week.  I was about to discard the eggs, but saw that 1 had pipped.

I have previously hatched eggs in an incubator.

But to see a mum and her chick pottering around is such a joy.  The rosey of mum (I got her from you last year Grannie Annie - black with gold chest, as well as a RIR and lavender aracuna) and how she has taught the little one to eat, even breaking down food for it etc is great to watch.

watching a mum with her chicks teaching them and rosey away to them is something you just can't beat - so do we get to see a photo?  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

When our Molly hatched out chicks I was fascinated by her attentiveness and instincts to know exactly what to do.  It's wonderful entertainment!
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

I love it and can't wait for my latest broody to hatch out her eggs.  It should be any time now so I'm on full chick alert.  No sign of pipping yet but I have to stop myself from checking too often ::)  I don't want to disturb her and I have to keep telling myself they will hatch in their own good time when they are ready  :)
