Have you asked your vet what the prognosis is for him ?

It's easy for me to say he'll never fully recover but I've not seen his foot !

The vet has been a bit vague about prognosis Aunt Sally. Ill have a good chat to her tomorrow. She said that Monty is not in pain in his foot, so I cant understand why he will not try and use it more. I think that the fact that Im getting loads of gunk out everyday is a good sign. The first lot of antibiotics he was on were worse that useless, so its like Im starting from scratch with him. Im happy to try another 5 days of Baytril if she thinks it may help. She charges me so little for the visits, so the cost is not an issue really.

If he's not in pain then I too would continue to treat him.  You're doing a grand job :)

Monty went to the vets this afternoon, and he came home again. This time, he has another 5 days of Baytril and an anti-inflam/painkiller which he must have twice a day for a week. Its like Ibuprofen for animals. We will then make a decision if needs be.
The painkiller he is on is a bit of an experiment. Its rarely used for birds, and hardly, if ever used for poultry. So Mont is a bit of a guinea pig, and he could be written about by our vet should it work as well as she hopes it will. She's hoping that it will encourage Mont to walk on the foot, which will then help to release the poison. She praised me for the way I'd dealt and was dealing with his foot, I felt quite proud.
