Nest box q

I have three chooks in my eglu, they have only been here a few days and although they are POL they still have pink combs and so I am not expecting eggs for a few weeks yet. So my question is....do I need to put the straw into the nest box yet or is it ok to wait for a week or two?

I would put some in there, so they can practice & see that there is somewhere for them to go

Yes put some straw in and a couple of golf balls to show them where the eggs are to go

Thank you. I am doing a clear out tomorrow of the eglu so shall pop some in then shall also find a golf ball, great idea

I have golf balls in mine and they are already laying.. but still laying all over the place. Should i remove them? I made a nest shape with some straw and they just got on with it.
