Hello
I have 4 chooks (1 mother hen and 3 offspring - 2 girls and a boy).  I have found someone willing to take the cockerel for me (yippee!) but am not sure what age its ok for them to leave mum.  I have to guess at age as they arrived through a friend of a friend with not much info, but I would estimate about 7 - 8 weeks.  They are well feathered and not far off the size of the mother, although could do with a bit of filling out.
Is it ok to let him go now?

They don't need weaned anyhow.  I think they can go at a day old provided they are kept warm.
