Hello Chicken Experts
« on: March 24, 2020, 16:04 »
So, My partner and I are quite lucky. We are able to work from home. We have a just moved into our house with a small garden. I've been wanting chickens for ages.....the o/h has just....almost...agreed to allow me to have chickens. She doesn't want them up the allotment just in case, for whatever reason we can't get up there. So, my question, in the current climate. Would i be able to source two bantam chicks? we want chicks so that they can grow up being handled.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks
Ches

I would hold off tbh.  You don't need to get them now and people usually hatch all spring and summer.  I would think most breeders are scaling back anyway for the moment.

If you buy young birds later in the year, you can easily tame them.  The advantage of buying birds at least a few weeks old and fully feathered is that they are much easier to sex, so you make sure you get hens  :)
