Title: Interesting watch from BBC4
Post by: New shoot on May 19, 2018, 20:36
The Magic of Mushrooms - no not some hippy trippy show, but an in depth look at the world of fungi I watched last night that would appeal to anyone interested in plants (although it turns out they are more animal than plant).

Makes you look at the mouldy bits in your compost heap in a whole new light.

Wow - interesting stuff!
I was lucky enough to be sent a review copy of a book on growing edible mushrooms - can't speak too highly about it -  Growing Mushrooms - Allotment Garden Diary (http://www.allotment-garden.org/garden-diary/5474/growing-mushrooms/)

On a similar theme, I caught the tail end of what seemed to be an interesting program on radio4 about trees that make researchers think that plants are actually semi sentient and show intelligence....

Doesn't bear thinking about considering how many of us are growing them to eat

Watched it last night on i-player New Shoot - an interesting watch, even though I kept getting distracted by the Prof using 'mycelium' as a plural (turns out that's OK...just!  ;))
