would you cook a beef stew for in a large slow cooker? put it on at 12 on high hoping it will be ready by 6 am I pushing it ??  if so will have to resort to my traditional option of shoving it in the oven

My book gives 4-8hours depending on whether it is on high or low

ok thanks hopefully I will get away with it then, its my own recipie and I am trying to judge the time by similar recipies one says 8-9 on low another says 4-6  on high
