Soil preparation for outdoor tomatoes?
« on: May 24, 2014, 20:21 »
I have 10 tomato plants ready to go out but I will be digging a new bed on my allotment for them tomorrow. What would be the best mix of compost/feed etc to prep the soil to give the plants a fighting chance? My soil is very light and sandy!

I would add as much compost or other organic matter as possible, for starters, to try to improve water retention.

Then a bit of balanced fertiliser (FBB or growmore) to help them get established, and then high potash at the advised application rate once the first little tomatoes have started forming.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
