Hen-friendly wood preservative
« on: October 03, 2016, 00:01 »
I have a broody hen sitting on six hatching eggs, estimated due date 7-10 days from now.  I will be building a brood box to separate mother and her adopted chicks from her three flock-mates.  I have teak oil and a generic B&Q wood preservative in my shed.  Will either of these be hen-safe and non-toxic or do I need to source something more specialist?

Don't bother for now.

Build it out of untreated timber, use it and then treat it when you are putting it away into storage ready for use next time.

Good advice :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!
