What kind of seedlings do you have in there?
I wouldn't be risking toms or cukes or peppers etc in anything unheated yet. Everything else, brassicas, onions etc etc could and should have as cool a temp as possible. One of my lean to greenhouses has doors at both ends and they are open all the time, day and night at the moment.
Veg wise, there are brassicas, leeks and beetroot in there at the moment, none of which mind a bit of cold.
The heated greenhouse has the doors opened at 8am and closed at 4pm. Good air circulation is as important as anything.

Thanks for all the replies!  I'm going to ask the farmer for another half dozen of the barrels so that will make 12 x 220 litres 2640 litres in total.  I'm convinced that putting in the heatsink is what will make a good PT into an excellent PT.  If it shaves a couple of degrees of the extremes of temp found in the PT environment, i.e daytime high temps will be attenuated and night time cold warmed up, it will be worth it.

How big is your polytunnel? Mine's 20x10 so if I put in that number of waterbarrels, I wouldn't have space to grow anything.  :)

I'm lucky in that I have taken over my Dad's veg garden at their house.  It is nice having so much space!!!
