Dealing with wind damage to plants
« on: May 04, 2021, 10:25 »
Yesterday had 72 mph winds
My garlic plants (around 60 of them), are now bent over most are flat on the soil.
Do I leave them to self recover, or should I lift and mound up soil to hold upright.
Or stake them. ( not sure where I get 50 stakes)

interesting that all onions around same height seem unaffected.
There are those that always like to find fault, if you spot a Typo ... consider put there for you.

I’d leave them to sort themselves out as you risk doing more damage trying to prop them up and they will be more easily knocked over again if we have anymore strong winds before summer kicks in.

I'd leave them to recover. I noticed this with broad beans which looked like a hurricane had gone through them near the end of winter. They completely recovered and are now flowering.

Yes Al78 mine took a bashing (lost 3 plants), last night......again, took a hammering last time, but they too recovered and flowered, got young beans on them now. Just annoyed it destroyed some this time with young beans on.
