Successful Day, Down on the Plot
« on: January 25, 2009, 19:43 »
Went to the plot today to move the Raspberry bushes and give the plot a general dig, where it needed it. I was very lucky as October I pratically rotavator the lot, then covered it and left it, so digging over today was like cutting through butter.
Do not understand why people harp on about wanting a plot, then leave it for 5 months. Don't worry about getting a gym membership, just dig your plot.
Knackered. Radox calling
This is what it looked like.

Then to this. Broccoli at the top has been left to see what it does as not hurting anyone.

From this

To this, with the raspberry bushes relocated.

And a general view.

Does not do it justice, but looks better closer up.

Thanks
Thanks

Love the scarecrow, at least I think it's a scarecrow?

I can't believe your plot is so dry...

Our allotments are on a slight slop and luckily for me, mine is at the top.

If you keep digging/rotavating and covering, then plant as you go, your soil should break up lovely.

The problem is, is that people get the plots because its trendy, then leave it because its cold, then come back and its to hard to dig.

We have some plots, that are just overgrown with grass, last years crop, last years potato plants still in the ground, dead, but 4ft above.

Nightmare.

Such a waste.

wouldn't mind if it was just the cold but went to the plot on saturday to dig some leeks up and it's that wet that it was slippery, nearly fell over a couple of times

Yes it really is a bit unfair that some of us have dry plots and some of us have quagmires  :(
