Which is the best variety for outside (non greenhouse) cherry type toms ? any ideas?

I had a fantastic crop from a variety called Tumbler last year. They're a compact/bush type. Bought the plants from the local chandler not the garden centre (approx 80p each). Potted in a medium sized container (with a pot saucer underneath) in grow bag compost. Fed from the top once a week once they flowered, watered from the bottom every day.

Toms were heart-shaped about the size of a supermarket cherry tom. Tasted and smelled amazing.

Going to try them on the patio again this year and do extra for some sauces.

Depends whether you want plum ones, red ones, yellow ones - there's loads to choose from. I usually grow loads of different sorts and then somehow lose the labels until I'm digging the plants up at the end of the season.

Hi this will be the first year for growing anything for me, the varieties I will be growing are:-
The Amateur dwarf bush tomato.
Sweet Olive - a baby plum small oval fruits.
Orange Pixie - dwarf variety, oblong orange fruits - tasted this variety from a fellow allotmentier last year absolutly delicious.

On the growing instructions I received with my seeds it says on all three varieties, beware planting near potatoes or manuring just before planting.

Maybe because they can get the same blight as potatoes?

I'm wondering whether it's worth it after having the crop devastated by blight three years in a row. Clear Pink Early and Taxi are excellent, with Prima to follow on from CPE.

Last year I grew Sungold. I gave them some very sturdy support and they stood up to some battering winds and rain outdoors. At first I wasn't all that impressed, but I think that's because I picked them before they were fully ripe. They will go quite a dark orange eventually. Once they were properly ripe, they were delicious.

They're really unusual tomatoes...where did you find those in the uk and what made you want to try them?

I'm doing some outdoors that claim to be blight resistant - but we'll see.... they are Ferline and Legend. I believe there are some others as well but I'm not sure of their names. I can't do any indoor ones this year as I'm planning to move house in midsummer, along with the greenhouse.
