Hi, I've bought some 4' pea netting and was wondering whether Mange tout grows taller than this? Could I still use the netting on them ?

Depends on the variety of mangetout.

I just bought some of these - the seller mentioned a height of 5'.

For me they grew to chest height, so about 4ft 6ins

Move the netting up the canes by a foot - the peas might need a bit of help bridging the gap (additional string between the canes or twigs) but they'll make it OK.

  I grew Carouby de Mausanne last year. They were over 5 ft tall ,I grew them on wire netting which is easier to

  remove from and reusable. I found it a nightmare to remove from the plastic pea and bean netting.

There are many varieties of mange-tout and some of them are only 2-3ft tall. Check the packet.

I grew Carouby last year too, and they went right over the top of my 8 foot canes

They are nice though, I'm doing them again this year. Gave me an enormous crop and have the most beautiful flowers, almost as nice as sweet peas.

I think it also depends on growing conditions. I'm still on the same packet I got three years ago, first year 8 foot was about right, then last year they only just made it up my 4 foot netting.  The last of the seeds will be for this year and I'd like something in the middle as the first year we had too many and then last year not enough. I'm not going down to the GH now to see what variety they are!
