Can anyone recomend this particular variety, or recomend any other plum tree? :D

Victoria is a lovely plum, but tends to have years when it has enormous set of fruit.
Sounds great....but what happens is that the weight of the fruit splits the branches, and sometimes means that you get a very light crop the next year while the tree recovers ::)
So as long as you thin it when it looks as if it has to big a crop, Or support branches as necessary....it's a lovely plum :)

Mum's right, Victoria can produce huge crops. I've seen three-inch branches snap under the weight. Although it's the variety that many people know there are others which probably taste better. I have an Opal which is very nice and I know that many folks swear that greengages are the tastiest of the plums. It's a shame you can't taste them all before deciding on which variety to go for.

Victoria are great plums but like others have said thin out on heavy crops as it will bienially fruit.
Also, looked at the link and that seems a bit pricey £14.99.
You can get them alot cheaper if you shop around.

one of our allotment holders had to bring their green gage down (height restrictions) I helped him and he offered bag of fruits from the felled tree. I must admit they are the better ones than victoria.
just a thought jamie!!! as you will get victoria fruits generally everywhere and you will grow something different!! :)
