Hope so - mine are still in the unheated greenhouse - not planted!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've got a load from last year that is sprouting in the veg rack. I'll bung it in when I get a chance. Last year the later planted stuff didn't all bulb up, but the big single bulbs were great for cooking with, much less fiddly. I'll plant them closer together than I would for Autumn planted bulbs.

I gave up waiting to be able to put the onion sets into the ground so planted them into modules. They have all rooted and desperately need to go into the ground at the lottie but the weather is so cold and I am sure the ground is too cold too, although I have had the ground covered with black plastic for a while but the bed is ready and waiting for warmer weather.  They are in an unheated greenhouse and I have been hardening them off (don't know if this is necessary but the overnight temps are still freezing). If I don't get them in the ground soon they won't be any good will they?
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I'm in exactly this situation. I imagine they will be ok for another few weeks in modules (I hope!) - until they have a reasonable root ball and some shoots.

Really, you can plant sets directly in the cold but now I have started them off and they are showing small roots I wonder if they would be more sensitive to shock if I move them before the soil warms up a little more.

They're hardy things though so I suppose we shouldn't be *too* worried!

My onions are going in this weekend, whatever the weather. It's either that or the first weekend of May due to various commitments and travel. They'll be fine, hardy *.

If your ground is still very wet try dibbing a hole and filling with sharp sand. pop your sets into the sand.
