Today I have noticed some of my apple trees have got leaves with lots of ragged holes in them and there are lots of small dull green beetles on the plants - any suggestion on what they might be (they may not be the culprits) and what I should do?

Nothing comes to mind and it doesn't sound like any of these.

But do take a look and see if anything seems familiar since we have most of the same pests as the UK.

Hi. Did you also find out how to get rid of this pest and/or what to do to stop it coming back again next year? I also found I have lots of holes all over the leaves of my apple tree but I have not seen any small bugs. Having googled like you, I thought it might be Winter Moth Caterpillars, as this was on the RHS site:

My trees are in a corner of a v. overgrown field full of nettles which are covered in these bugs, so I just hope the trees learn to live with them since control is not an option (unless someone has a cunning solution!)
