Picking cabbage...
« on: August 06, 2011, 09:31 »
I have a row of fairly small but nice looking cabbages.  They're quite close together and this might be why they're small.  If I pick every other one to eat over the next few weeks, will the ones left grow bigger I wonder?

Here's another question, someone told me, as with spinach, if you just pick the nice big leaves and leave the plant in the ground, more leaves will grow back.  Is this true, or only so much codswollop?!?!  ???

Yes to both  :)

You will need to give the remaining cabbages a bit of food (I use chicken manure pellets) and water so they get a boost.

And spinach keeps growing more and more leaves until it flowers (bolts) Good value, eh?  ;)
