another warning is all paint will be water based by 2010 as white spirit will be banned as along the paraffin it is next in the chain. Australia is already water based paint only.

As a retired decorator and at one time a Forestry Worker, I question if this is really a green option? Water based paints will not protect wood like the oil based paints. If you don't believe it, look around you when in town and see how many Victorian sliding sash windows there are still around. How elastic is the water based paint, how will it stand up to the swelling and shrinking due to the weather conditions? Will we need to cut down more trees to replace the rotten wood?

Thats a very good point, also it makes you wonder about the environmental impact of manufacture of these water based paints, I know some of the acrylic emulsions have to produced at the same or higher standards as food due to the risk of contamination from mould/yeast spores in the air.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Thanks, Richy.

A German acquaintance said to me many years ago about recycling, that people were wasting fuel in order to take things of little value to a recycle centre. It would have been more efficient to dump them in landfill.

There's a lot of silly unthought 'green' ideas about - annoys me greatly.

Windpower is brilliant on a large scale but on a domestic level is madness. You never get your money back or even save the carbon emissions involved in the original manufacture
Check out our books - ideal presents

Like the one thats sold by the largest diy group in the UK ?, when you sit down and work out the figures, I think you actually just may break even monetarily wise just after the 10 yr warranty runs out   then you may need to buy a new one     =  gotcha!

I get it from a local fuel station.  He serves it from a tank.

Very outdated place but ideal for us gardeners!
