Hi,

Can anyone advise please?  I would like to plant some blueberry bushes on my allotment but as they need ericaceous compost i dont know how well they would do.

Would i get away with weekly watering with ericaceous feed and digging in ericaseous compost each spring? or would i be fighting a loosing battle? any opinions would be much aprreciated before i part with my money.

If i was you, id put them each into there own pot filled with ericaceous  compost, then bury each pot in your allotment so it looks like theve just been planted straight into the ground, then you can keep the conditions perfect for each plant and prevent all the important stuff leaching away

Test your soil with a pH tester first - use a test tube version rather than probe.

If it isn't acid soil then I think the plants will not thrive over time, despite your best efforts, and would go with what Jamie suggests.

Thanks for replies. I will go test soil first since i've never done that (you never no maybe i have ok soil for them)  I've been having a read these last few days and have come across another possibility,  'Honeyberry' , it's supposed to have fruit similar to blueberry but doesn't need the acid soil.  Anyone grown this? would be interested to no if it compares to blueberry.
