Camon / BCS Rotavator Help...
« on: March 20, 2012, 18:50 »
Not posted for a while but need to get my backside in gear this year to make the best of the plot!!!

Anyway, last year I had this (Camon/BCS C5) and used it successfully,

I then drained the tank and stored it at the side of the shed under what I thought was an intact waterproof cover  :(

Guess what?

Not as waterproof as I believed and water got in the carb and there was evidence of it getting in the cylinder bore too.

So, I've seperated the engine block from the rest of the machine and stripped it down to the cylinder and sorted it all out, have cleaned out the engine oil too and replaced it.

My question is does anyone know what the cylinder head torque should be?

It didn't take too much to undo it, it wasn't leaking or anything as the gasket was fine so I've done it up to 15lb/ft as 10lb/ft felt too easy if you see what I mean?

But if anyone knows for sure I'd feel happier, can't find a single manual online for the C5 at all :-(

Once this is done I can get on with stripping and rebuilding the carb.

Give 'em a bell, someone in technical is sure to know/remember... or be able to suggest where to look.

Cheers guys, I couldn't find anything online at all for the C5 so took the plunge and just rang them following your advice. I have to admit I didn't really think they'd know or want to tell me but the lady put me right through to technical and after about 2 minutes of shuffling his papers the tech guy was able to tell me what torque and what sequence to use too!

So, here it is

Here's the shot of above the cylinder head with bolts already screwed in ready to torque.

Now, each is numbered and must be torqued to 19.5 Nm (newton metres) which is almost exactly 19 ftlbs.

It's important to do them in the sequence numbered and to do it in stages too.

i.e. start with say 7Nm and do 12345678 then increase to 14Nm and do 12345678 then finally at 19.5Nm.

Hopefully this will help someone in the future.
