not sure about the watering mate i'm not a tree person.we plant a few in work now and then ,and thats about it.cant see it doing any harm to give them a good soak over night it will do more good than harm.
are the root balls wrapped in hessian ?

They didnt have rootballs, just thin spidery roots that went i nto the slit trench
