Hi
I've just got my first allotment and I have inherited a fig tree. It seems very small and has no structure so I don't know whether it's to be fanned up a wall or grown as a tree. It does seem to have been caught by the recent frosts too. Any help on how to deal with it for the coming season will be really appreciated. Many thanks Liz

it looks ok to me...i have one that is about 15 yrs old and as its in a small pot, it doesnt look that much bigger than yours and it gives me about 15-20 figs a year. it may be worth digging down to see if it is in a sunken pot as they remain relatively small but produce decent figs if they are restricted....i believe.
If it isnt in a sunken pot, it may be worth digging it up and potting into a 14 inch (ish) pot to see what happens. Nothing to lose really, but if it is left in the open ground, it think any fruit will be small and not worth the effort.
Nothing like a freshly picked warm fig....YUM! :)
