??? Does anyone have any easy recipes for strawberry wine that don't need masses of equipment? I've not made wine for years and then only from kits and don't have any stuff, except strawberries!!Thanks!!!

the equipment you need will be the same no matter the recipe you use...

I assume you have demijohn(s) and airlocks if you've made kit wine already, in addition to that you'll need:
  • something to do the initial fermentation or 'flavour extraction' in (with the 'mashed' fruit) - you can buy fermentation buckets or use any sterilised bucket or large bowl (so long as it's not metal and can be covered with a tea towel/cloth)
  • then you'll need something to strain the fruit pulp from the liquid - muslin cloth or a sterilised cotton tea towel (non fluffy variety!)
  • tubing to siphon and 'rack' the wine

you'll also need scales, jugs/funnel, spoons and sterilising solution

had a quick look at recipes and the 'basics' they all have are
Strawberries
Sugar
Yeast & nutrient
citric acid (can buy tubs of it powdered or use lemon juice)

other recipes have additional extras like
grape tannin (again you can buy this or use cold, strong black tea)
campden tablet
pectin enzyme
grape juice or chopped raisins / dates (adds flavour and 'body' to the finished wine)

hope this gives you an idea of what you'll need to get going  - happy brewing   :D

There are really an assortment of options.

I would be tempted to get bucket, add a litre of white grape juice and 5 or 6 pints of luke warm water (start with 5), about 2 1/2 lbs sugar - could try a 1kg bag.

Some citric acid and some tannin, cheap form being juice of a lemon and half a cup of strong tea. Then add 3lbs of strawberries and get a yeast starter going and finally add that.

Leave to ferment for 5-7 days then strain into a DJ and add airlock.
I generally just strain through a standard sieve, it blocks enough stuff from getting through

If you have a hydrometer then add sugar for about 1.090, 12%.
Will say a hydrometer is useful.

The thing about making wines is you can go a simple or technical as you fancy.
Could start off with half the strawberries then add the remaining half after 4 or 5 days - you get more strawberry flavour/aroma out of it then.

I found strawberry wine does not keep a great deal of time, the ones I made lost their taste in under a year so from that experience I would say drink within 6-8 months. Whatever simple answer is to try one and see.
