Recycled wellies

My lovely colourful spotty wellies have died a death ..... aaaaaaaah, sooo sad. They were a Christmas pressie from the grandchildren so my plan is to plant a potato in each of them, and give them back to the granchildren for fun !!!
How do YOU recycle your wellies?

I've used my old wellies cut up into strips to make the hinges for my polytunnel doors. It works well.

great ideas anyone got any more as there are two pairs on the plot ive got and i was going to bin them :shock: not now though carrots come to mind :idea:

Ive had the same pair of green wellies (which are worn almost every day) for 26 years. I bought them during the really bad winter of 82 (or 84)I had to wait for a second order to arrive at Wakefields because they had sold out.

What make are they? As mine always seem to split just inside where the big toe is! But then I always buy the cheapest I can get, because I've been known to catch them on the spade lug and pull lumps out of them!

As I bought them they must have been cheap and they definately werent a brand name. Ive just gone to have a look but there isnt any mark on them. Just a relatively cheap pair from a now defunct shop called Wakefields. My partner has a super duper pair complete with daft buckles on but he prefers to swipe mine. !

Mine have split down the back so ive cut them in to shoes. I love the idea of planting in them tho.

The wellies are planted - a tiny Mimi potato in each - and are gracing a back garden in Croydon! They should do well, our daughter heard our grandson talking to them on Saturday!

I used to cut old wellies up to make replacement washers for the dripping tap in the kitchen. Times were hard. Each washer would last about two weeks.

My spotty wellies now have lovely spud shoots showing at the top, much to the delight of Matthew and Lucy. Wish I'd read your blog earlier, Oscar, we could have had spotty washers on our kitchen tap. Times must have been hard! I think using them as planters is more fun !!!
