Where do you find the Blue Water Butts?

Looking on the photographs on the forum, there are many allotments that have large blue plastic containers that are being using as water butts, I'm guessing they are cheaper than those form DIY and Garden suppliers, so where do you find these things, and at what cost?

Our shop had a load delivered for free and sold them at £3 each.  I think a lot of companies have liquid delivered in them and are only too happy to sell them on or give them away, you just need to be careful of what was stored in them.

Do a search for blue plastic drums/barrels. Loads come up, all colours. ;)

I kept my eyes peeled for them while driving and found a few shops that carried them but at outrageous prices. Eventually found nice clean and cheap ones at my local hardware store.

You could always ask the people where they got theirs.

Google search found a lot of links but so far nothing local, 210 Litre Blue drum £12.50 plus delivery from Wales - If there were more people on the allotments I could ask where they got theirs, if they didn't inherit them from previous owners ;0)

Looking to harvest water off the shed and perhaps link two together

Mine were on ebay - they had chassis wash - but cleaned out well and are fine to use.

Coach companies and Taxi companies are apparently good sources - if you ask nicely and offer the right person a tenner or so.

A forum search wouldn't be amiss to be honest, people ask quite often.. :D Farmers are supplied dairy chemicals in those 205 litre blue barrels, so if you knew any dairy farmers or farm supply places...... I think they are used to supply food grade products too. :)

and detergents are also delivered in them - so most factories/large retail outlets would probably have some for disposal from time to time.

You often find people selling them cheap at boot fairs when they've 'rescued' them from their work place :)
