We bought our POL's several weeks ago and one of them was the last CC Maran that they had.  She commented that she was left over from last season.  Well, Franny has a beautiful comb and waddle, is slightly bigger than my other three girls, and appears to be in perfect health.  Two of my hens that are smaller than her and less developed are laying regularly.  She just can't be asked.   Doesn't even have any interest in the nest box.   She goes to the beat of another drummer too.  Just slightly fay.  Am I expecting too much too soon?  She doesn't squat like my other two egg-laying chickens either.  The other hens are a Light Sussex (still a bit of a baby), Black Rock and a Calder Ranger.

if she's last season, was she laying whilst she was with her?

sometimes a laying hen that has moved owners might stop laying for a while, due to different enviroment, stress and diet. Dont worry, she will probably start again when she feels like it!
