Post early for Christmas
« on: December 02, 2022, 16:33 »
Given all the strikes at Royal Mail, anyone else planning to post cards this weekend?

Not us.. we stopped sending cards a few years ago and now we just donate ££ to one charity or another.

Yes, I think I will.

I did debate whether to not send any, but for me it's a part of Christmas that I enjoy participating in, so I'll do it anyway.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I must confess my wife worries about this more than I do.
Given the cost of stamps I wonder how many people will just decide to not bother this Christmas. Certainly if you don’t think the card will arrive before Christmas it rather undermines the logic of sending them.
Keep digging

I'll be sending cards because it's easier to send the cards I bought cheaply after last Christmas, than it is to exchange my stock of old-style stamps for the new ones LOL!

Posted yesterday.  Only send to people I don't see, amounts to about 15.

The Post Office has moved the latest dates for posting according to the paper.  I haven't even bought mine yet!

Apparently, the PO won't be able to guarantee second class deliveries if posted after 12th December!

Seems ludicrous to me, but the strikes will make things very difficult for some people I'm sure!

We had a flyer through the door the other day, advertising Royyal Mail doing deliveries of medical prescriptions. Sure to, (not), if you need the stuff and they're off that week...

I'm posting ours tomorrow BTW...

Posting very few, but they're written out and will be sent tomorrow.  Spent yesterday morning wrapping gifts so, for once in my very long life, I'm actually ready for Christmas early!!!  Hubby has been asking to put up the tree since the 1st December, but we've agreed that it can go up at the end of next week.

Perhaps we should put two Christmas cards into each envelope one for 2022 and another for 2023. That way we are fully covered.  :D

I have just written today, my ones for the post.   Family in Yorkshire and others nearby all go in one brown envelope for distribution.    The others now unwritten so far will be for friends nearby.  Mrs Bouquet
