Fleece
« on: August 27, 2009, 22:02 »
I bought 3 lots of fleece in the spring to cover my early pea sowings. I moved them in the shed earlier today and they just disintegrated in my hands..........just shreds of fibre left
I know they didn't cost the earth....£2.99 each i think , but i expected them to last a little longer than this :(
Are they all the same or can someone recommend a fleece that lasts, a while at least ???

My work colleague presented me with some fleece for use over Carrots this Spring..bought from a £ shop..one assumes for £1 ;)...looked only just a bit thinner than what I had previously used ex garden centre....

All ok for a while but then it just disintegrated as described..breaking down to almost nothing....so evidently not very UV stabilised..or whatever the term is.?....and/or could it be some corn? starch? made stuff.??

Back to previous supplier next year or I may move to enviromesh perhaps.??

I thought that my fleece that I carefully put away last winter would do another season. Lettuce all full of bits of fleece after it disintegrated.

Sadly, you get what you pay for. The good stuff is an investment, which means it will last a lot of years with care. Few can afford all they need at once so try buying a unit each summer and it won't hurt so much financially. Ask for it as pressies is even better.
