good morning
my runner beans are allmost done,if i compost them when i pull them up will the remaining seed pods grow,when i use it,i was told to dig a trench an bury them , again i feel these will grow,any thoughts ?

Personally I leave all the pods I missed to dry and set seed for next year, and these will be collected around november. By then the frost will have killed the plants and sometime in mid winter when everything is dry I have a bonfire and burn the lot, saving the bamboo canes of course!

I'll chop all my plants up with the mower before composting, pods and all. Runners are easy enough to weed and pick-out any unwanted seedlings.

Just plonk them on the compost heap and squash them down. No need to chop as they soon rot.

It is difficult enough to stop seeds going mouldy if you try to save them for seed let alone burying them in a damp warm compost heap. I would be very surprised if any survived until Spring.
