Feel a bit silly asking ,but,I have never grown red onions from seed before .This year I was too late to buy sets.I have read that you plant them out when they are about 15 cm high? but how deep do you plant them?thanks

I put mine in about 1" deep.

If you have just sown from seed now, you will have a later batch but they should still be ok
My personal belief is that onions are better grown from seed
You get a better root system

Just sown my third batch of seed today. The first two were no shows. First lot planted 20th Feb, showed after 2 weeks, died shortly afterwards. Next batch planted, one or two have showed, but nothing spectacular. Set latest ones today. Fingers crossed.
