When do light sussex cocks start to crow?
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:56 »
Does this exercise of the vocal cords coincide with the right time to cull for the table - kinda like a timer?

I like the idea of raising light sussex - great birds and the ideal thing would be to cull the odd one or two and the cocks but i cannot have cockerels crowing where i live.

Anyone with light sussex experience??
If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.

Monty has just started to cockle, and I cant wait to hear a full blown doodle-do. There's no way that I could eat him though, although he's abig ol' unit!! Luckily the girls seem to love him though, so I have no need to do the deed!!

Our silkie crowed at 12 weeks!  We didn't believe the neighbours when they said he had crowed at 6 am! But sure enough - he also started crowing through the day and now in the middle of the night if he gets disturbed! Wouldnt have him any other way
