By the sounds of her, one of my hens thinks she's a boy and tries cock-a-doodle-do-ing at the top of her voice every morning. Never had a cockerel, heard that hens sometimes try taking up the role if have been used to living with one, but that's not the case here. Not so bothered about it myself, just don't want to upset the neighbours who already view us as nutters!   Anyone any idea what's happening and she will ever quieten down?

Definitely a girl, Foxy!!  
I've been watching her a bit more closely this weekend, and she seems to get cross with the others going in the nest boxes and that has got her scrawking.
There are plenty of boxes, never a queueing problem, so she could go in, but appears to want total privacy!
She's a young lady who's just started laying and not up high in the pecking order.
All very confusing......do they get PMT?
