Title: Where to collect eggs in Lincolnshire
Post by: grinling on May 30, 2012, 21:49
Poppy has gone broody  :D I would to get her some eggs to hatch and would prefer to collect. Does anyone know of good egg sellers and what prices do eggs go for?

Have a look on the 'poultry for sale' bit on here, you should see some breeders local to you on the list. I think egg prices differ a lot. I can get hybrid eggs for 50p each and pure breed eggs can be£1 up to £1.75 each here.
I've also found with one breeder, the more I buy the cheaper they get so have a shop around. My last lot of 9 mixed araucana and legbar eggs cost me £13, I also got to go in with the parent birds so knew they were from good stock too.

I've recently bought 6 pure breed eggs for £5.  Nowhere near Lincolnshire though!

Did you get your eggs sorted Grinling?

We saw a chap at a boot fair this morning that sells his fertile eggs, but when I spoke to him, he said they are cross breeds, some are part araucana.

It's just that he lets all his chickens free range, so the cockerels don't care who they jump on!

But if its any use to you, I can send you his phone number?  He lives at Gosberton Clough
